The Brief
A globally recognized leader in their field, our client chose Ofilms through a rigorous selection process to deliver event production services for their high profile, multi-day, hybrid conference. The quadrennial event attracts prestigious influencers and decision makers from research, government, NGOs and industry worldwide.
With leading international experts presenting and attending the event, it was essential to the client that the live stream was accessible to viewers across the globe, including in China, and as their most high-profile event of the year quality of delivery was of critical reputational importance.
The Project
Hosting the online aspect of the event on a branded digital delegate microsite enabled Ofilms to fully manage the delivery of the live stream with a private video player and secure access to chat and Q&A.
With full technical control of all digital delegate sites, Ofilms were able to optimise the microsite server solution for access in China particularly for the event.
To balance quality and costs, video was delivered into China using a CDN with servers near China that is not blocked by and is accessible in China.
Our team completed rigorous and exacting automated and human testing of both the microsite and CDN from within China to ensure that all content, interactivity and media could be accessed from within China.
As with all Ofilms solutions, a secondary contingency solution was put in place should there be any issues with delivery both in China and worldwide.
The Result
Over 3 days, the event attracted a truly global audience with viewers using the digital delegate online venue from countries around the world, including from within China. Using built-in and established metrics, at the end of each day the team were able to report on audience numbers by country.
Speaker presentations, Panel discussions, interviews and Audience Q&As were attended by viewers who would not have been able to access the content if it had only been hosted on the client’s YouTube channel and in the follow up survey sent to viewers, there was a high rating on the quality of production and attendees commented on how good the live stream was.

The feedback on the audio-visual elements was overwhelmingly positive, and 95% of respondents to our survey rated the quality of the broadcast as good or excellent.
