CMA Data Conference

The Brief

When the Competition and Market Authority’s DaTA team decided to organise a high-profile conference demonstrating its global leadership in the use of data and analytics in competition and consumer protection, they selected Ofilms to consult on and deliver the event.


Bringing business, regulators, academia and media together for the first time in a hybrid environment the event would also be broadcast to the public globally.

The Project

Working closely with the event’s convener and organisers at the CMA, we provided Event Management and Technical Consultancy leading up to the event.  Helping to shape the initial plans, we guided the organising team on all aspects of planning the event, from venue and guest management to set design, through venue AV and engaging viewers through a hybrid event.


We designed and built a set suited to the hybrid environment using 3D modelling in the planning stages to enable the CMA’s team to visualise the set and how guests would engage with a hybrid event, the first of its kind to be held in the CMA offices.


Our technical setup consisted of venue PA and a production gallery that could handle the 2 remote video feeds and 4 camera feeds, while multiple displays in the venue and a broadcast mix created a seamless experience for the whole audience during both in person and hybrid keynote speeches and panels.


For virtual viewers we provided an interactive, customised and brand compliant online venue to host the global audience.

The Result

With this being the first event of its kind organised the CMA and with the high profile nature of the event, the pressure was on.  How did it go?
